Alexander McQueen 1969-2010

Don't know if you have heard the shocking news yet, but legendary and hugely influential fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, was found dead Thursday in his London home. It is being ruled as an apparent suicide.

If you are not familiar with Alexander McQueen I can almost guarantee you that your wardrobe is. For every outlandish, theatrical and incredibly creative collection from the designer, I've seen a resemblance of his masterpieces in the next season's store-front windows. We're already seeing reptile-print and chunky shoes popping up in stores, directly influenced by his last collection.

He was incredibly forward-thinking in his designs and a true artist in his ability to make us really think about the visuals of fashion. He made us not take fashion - and ourselves - so seriously. This is a hard feat in an industry that is mainly focused on selling for profit. Alexander McQueen was always more focused on the statement of his work than the dollar signs.

McQueen planned to unveil his new collection later this month during London's Fashion Week. He will be truly missed by the fashion world.

  1. So sad... this really makes you think... and your stomach sink.

On another, happier note... Parlour should be out by the end of February!
