CLOSED: GIVEAWAY and GUEST POST: Shopping While Tall

I have a special treat for all my tall readers out there! The kind people from Long Tall Sally are giving away a $50 gift card to one lucky Dress Me Dearly reader!

Long Tall Sally offers stylish apparel and accessories for women 5’8” and taller. It’s not just extra inches added to the hem – as is the case with most mainstream retailers who offer a “tall section.” Instead, the entire garment is crafted from start to finish with a tall fit model and with a tall figure in mind. That means that the pockets, knees, sleeves, elbows, rise, waist and everything else actually fits, proportionally.

Edmonton's Long Tall Sally is located in West Edmonton Mall.

1. Visit LongTallySally.com, pick out your favourite item, and link it in a comment below this post. (include your email so I can contact you if you win!)

3. For extra entries, tweet, facebook or blog about this contest

Please include your email address in your comment below and state if you tweeted, facebooked and/or blogged about the contest. Contest closes Tuesday July 5th at midnight. GOOD LUCK!
But that's not all my long legged friends! Arianne Cohen, author of The Tall Book: A Celebration of Life from on High has kindly offered her advice on being a fierce and tall fashionista!

Tip 1 Shop only in stores where the mannequin is tall. Each store designs all its clothes around a "fit" size, and you want to make sure that you are reasonably close to that size. If you're the tallest size on the rack, go somewhere else – the clothes are not cut for your body.

Tip 2 Go for "smart" and "elegant" styles, not cute. Ruffles, baby doll cuts and many bows just won't work. You are a magnificent tall creature, and deserve a dress that highlights that, like Long Tall Sally’s Exposed Zip Shift Dress - sure, it's fun, but its lines are fundamentally smart and elegant.

Tip 3 Make sure jacket and blouse sleeves cover your wrist bone. Yes, that little round one on the pinky side. Otherwise, you look gawky. See the proper fit of the Crepe Contrast Trim Jacket.

Tip 4 Always accent the waist and hips. This is the biggest mistake that tall women make. Every item you buy should come in at the waist, like the Geo Tribal Print Jersey Dress, which naturally shows off your waistline.

Tip 5 Accessorize! You're tall, which means you get to wear huge, oversized earrings, like the Tear Disc Earrings, and gorgeous bags like the Fashion Satchel. You can pull it off!

  1. HI, jackets are the hardest to find (and jeans of course). here is my fav item:

I also tweeted about this contest. thanks! so excited

  4. wow what nice clothing this shop has. I LOVE this blue dress, the one you put on the post, and i just fell in love with it. I love blue!!!

    I blogged about your giveaway.

  5. Any pants - jeans, shorts, dress pants - are the hardest to buy. Rarely are they long enough and they never ever taper at the waist which means you have this big gaping space at the small of your back. Argh!!

Rant over :) I've been looking for a maxi dress for over five years now and have yet to find one I like that's also long enough for me. This maxi dress is gorgeous:
With a little change to hair and accessories you can go from a sunny afternoon drink on a patio to a fancy dinner.

I liked you on FB. Please please please pick me!
