I'm super excited to share that my 9-5 home, the Art Gallery of Alberta, has announced the theme for the next installment of its highly anticipated Refinery party on Saturday, March 24. And guess what?  It's all about fashion!

These late night art parties allow guests to experience the Gallery in a truly unique way, moving through all four floors to mingle, sip, dance, create and view current exhibitions. Inspired by the AGA's upcoming exhibition, Alberta Mistress of the Modern: 1935-1975, this Refinery entitled, Sewing the Heartland, welcomes Jessica Kennedy as Creative Director. Jessica is well known in Edmonton as former owner of Nokomis, a beloved clothing boutique that once resided on Whyte Avenue, carrying exclusively Canadian labels.

Sewing the Heartland invites guests to express their crafty side with fun, interactive activities including a collaborative quilting project and button making! In true Nokomis fashion, installations and portraits of grandmothers will be everywhere paying tribute to the generations of women who came before us.

A live Fashion Challenge will also take place with local teams of designers, stylists, and fashion enthusiasts competing for an insane fashion prize: a look book photo shoot with esteemed local photographer, Aaron Pedersen. A guest judging panel will decide who goes home with the goods. Apply to compete here!

Oh, and if that wasn't enough - Amy van Keeken's Rock and Roll Sing-a-Long band will be keeping the party lively until the wee hours of the morning. Bring well-rested vocal chords and dancing shoes.

Last Refinery tickets sold out FAST... like in four hours. Guarantee your spot by becoming an AGA Member and get access to advanced ticket sales, starting next Tuesday!

Eeeeek, can't wait!
