Decades ago, misunderstood teens everywhere upped their cool factor with the help of a certain foot doctor. Embraced in every era from the 60's - 90's, Dr. Martens donned the feet of punk rock rebels and new wave musicians, to Gen Xers who smell like teen spirit. The label has returned, attracting a wider demographic with updated styles and feminine shapes.
The iconic British brand has opened its first Western Canada location in West Edmonton Mall's Europa Boulevard. Last week local media were invited to preview the new store, learn more about the brand and get a sneak peek of upcoming collections. Studs anyone?
The brand's classic 1460 boots line the store shelves in traditional black and red, but now electric fluorescents and floral prints are included in the palette. Dr. Martens has undergone a major transformation in the last few seasons, even releasing a line of women's heels and boots that are impeccably manufactured and undeniably comfortable, boasting the Doc's famous cushy sole.
Wearing my new favourite shoes, I stopped by Breakfast Television Edmonton to chat about the Dr. Martens store opening and summer shoe trends! Check out the segment here.
