1. Buy local
About 20% of my current wardrobe is purchased from Edmonton-owned boutiques or designers. I'd like to see that grow to 50% by 2015. Supporting Edmonton's economy and entrepreneurs is good for my own business, my community and damn good karma. My favourite local shop stops include WORKHALL, Bamboo Ballroom, Oak + Fort, Loft 82 and Coup.

2. Wear out my wardrobe
I have three bursting closets, overflowing dresser drawers and a clothing rack hanging with enough garments to wear a new outfit every day this year. Yet, on a Friday night you'll find me stomping around my home like a two year old flinging clothes in every direction whining, "I have nothing to wear." This year I'm shopping less and actually wearing the great items I already own. Anything I haven't worn in six months is out the door for consignment or donation.

3. Add more layers
I often throw on a dress and necklace and call it a day, even though I have tons of great jackets, scarves, sweaters and pieces ideal for layering. A few stylish layers can take an outfit from basic to bangin'. In an effort to wear out my wardrobe and be more imaginative, I'm vowing to utilize these layering pieces more often.

What style resolutions do you have cookin' this year?

  1. Anonymous1/22/2014

Conquering the concept of layers is a skill, and I'm constantly trying to look just as cool as a Free People gal.

  2. This is perfect! I definitely need to be doing these three things, especially number two! I am so terrible for that.
    Great post!

  3. I too want to do more layering! Great resolutions!
